Staten Island Youth Court

In the beginning of the year, I started to gain interest in being a lawyer, and wanted to learn more on the subject. My mom found this program for me called the Staten Island Youth Court. It is basically a court for teens who do minor crimes (like graffiti, truancy, fare evasion, etc.)  Us, as their peers, take on the roles of the court (like the judge, jury, both attorneys, etc.) I joined this program, and we first went through a 5- week training. During those trainings we had professionals come in and give us lessons, as well as learning from our bosses. For the all the trainings, we earned a total of 40 community service hours. After the trainings finished, the actual Youth Court job began. Many different kids with different crimes came in, and it was really a great experience.
