    My name is Anita Kathleen Platis. I am 15 years old and a sophomore at CSI High School. I am a Greek-American, which is not a very common ethnicity in the area I live in. I live in Staten Island, New York and it is considered urban. I am a competitive dancer, and have been dancing for about 13 years now. I dance for Rhythm Central Dance Company. Dance is a very big part of my life where as other people may just view it as a silly hobby. Other dancers understand the way I feel about dance. In this generation, dance is much more than just a hobby, but I believe that it is an actual sport. Other sports that interest me that I believe I'm good at include rock climbing and archery. These sports are more popular than they used to be. Who would have thought that an old method of fighting in wars would later become a sport called archery? Aside from these sports and a few others, I do not enjoy playing any others because I am not good at them.
    Some of my other hobbies and interests include hanging out with friends, listening to music, watching movies, traveling and going on the computer. My friends are a huge part of my life. Although I only have a few real friends, I don't know what I would do without them. I have the best times with them and they are always there for me no matter what. My favorite type of music is rock, and my favorite bands are My Chemical Romance, Green Day, and AFI. My least favorite types of music are pop, hip-hop, and rap. I use music as an escape from the real world and to calm me down when I'm mad, sad, or lonely. Over the years, rock music has become more and more popular. There are many different types of rock music including rock & roll, punk, alternative, hard rock, screamo, emo, and many more. Watching movies is another favorite pastime of mine. My favorite movie genres are comedy, action, and horror. I cannot stand dramatic movies or fantasy movies with too many effects. Some of my favorite movies include The Breakfast Club, Stepbrothers, Pineapple Express, the Back to the Future series, and many more. I also like to use the computer a lot but I try not to let social networking sites take over my life. I have my very own apple laptop and I am constantly teaching myself how to use new programs on it. My favorite thing to do is download music and make movies.
